Privacy notice
What BrandPulse keeps when you register and sign in, why, and for how long.
What we collect
- What you tell us when you register: your name, email address, company, title or role, and why you're here. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash (scrypt); nobody can read it back.
- Assessment details you submit: the website, selected industry, and—if you choose one—the metro you primarily serve. The metro is self-reported and saved with that assessment as private context; it does not publish a local profile or enter public local comparisons by itself. We do not collect a service address through this field, and it does not change the site's score.
- Your IP address and its approximate location (country, region, city and time zone), when you register and each time you sign in. The location is looked up on our own server from an offline database; your IP address is not sent to anyone to do it.
- What your browser tells every website: its user agent (which we read as browser, operating system and device type) and its preferred languages.
- What the page reads from your browser when you register or sign in: your languages and time zone setting, your screen size and pixel ratio, and how you first arrived on this visit (the page that linked you here, the first page you opened, and any campaign tags in that link, such as utm_source).
- Questions you ask Ask BrandPulse (the assistant on every page), with its answers, are kept to improve it, under a pseudonymous identifier or your account, never your IP address.
- When you were last here, and a short history of your sign-ins (time, IP address, approximate location, browser).
We don't use your browser's location feature, we don't fingerprint your browser (no canvas, WebGL, audio or font probing), and there are no advertising or analytics trackers on BrandPulse.
We email you only about your account: a link to confirm your email address, password reset links when you ask for one, and a welcome note. No newsletters, and nothing in our email tracks whether you opened it.
BrandPulse also counts, without an account, which version of the home page a visitor saw and the steps they took (for example "searched the chart", "started a check", opened a story, or clicked a consulting contact link), under a random identifier in a first-party cookie, to learn which pages help people use the check. Story, video, and consulting contact-link clicks are counted on BrandPulse; videos open on YouTube only when you choose to follow the link. The click count does not include the contents of any email you choose to send. Nothing in those counts names you.
Why
To understand who uses BrandPulse, so we can make it more useful, and to keep it secure: to spot and stop automated sign-ups, password guessing and misuse.
Who sees it
Only the BrandPulse team. We don't sell your data and don't send it to third parties. It stays on BrandPulse's own server.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Sign-in details older than the latest 20 are dropped. Ask us to delete your account and we delete what we hold about you within 30 days.
Your choices
To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or with any question, email brandpulse@actum360.com.
